This is a more modern take on the classic look.
Officially Revealed Corvette C8:
A rumored logo for the eighth-generation Chevrolet Corvette was leaked in February. The model’s Facebook page now confirms that the emblem is real. A video was released by the company showing how the famous cross flags of the “Vette” badge have changed over time.
The V-shaped space between flags is gone with the new logo. Although the banners share a vertical section now, the Chevy logos and checkered flag still stand out diagonally. This video shows the startup animation for the Corvette.
The emblem was revealed as part of an avalanche of information about the eighth-generation Corvette Bash in Bowling Green. John from Midengine Corvette Forum was there to hear Tadge Juechter, chief engineer of Corvette, talk about the Zora Arkus – Duntov stickers on the ‘Vette. He also took photos with Mary Barra, General Motors CEO. He printed the stickers despite initial resistance and was granted permission by the head of GM communications to attach them to the car shortly before Barra arrived.
The presentation revealed that Chevrolet had built more than 100 C8 Corvette test mules. Some of the mules were destroyed by engineers to conduct safety testing.
Chevy recently announced 400 additional jobs, and a second shift to build the ‘Vette at its Bowling Green plant. Juechter stated that the C8 projected sales rate was the reason for the Corvette Bash presentation.
The mid-engined Corvette will not be revealed by the Bowtie until July 18. The model will launch with a naturally-aspirated 6.2-liter V8 producing around 460 horsepower (343kilowatts). It will also run through an 8-speed dual-clutch transmission. The lineup will likely be expanded with higher horsepower models later.
