Japan’s new Emperor Naruhito starts his reign with a ride that is fit for royalty. He’s ordering a Toyota Century with an open-roof roof, according to The Wall Street Journal . Although reports claimed that he planned to use the vehicle when he became emperor, there was never any sighting of it. We look forward to seeing the custom Century at an upcoming event.
The open-roof Century’s design is still unknown. It seems too costly to completely re-engineer it in order to have a huge convertible top – even for such a high-profile client. Toyota could choose to have no top, or opt for the same layout as the. Naruhito is in good company as Toyota CEO AkioToyoda rides in a custom Century. Instead of an open-roof model, the boss has a sporty tune by the Gazoo Racing performance division. Although the company has not been open about any modifications to the model, the obvious ones include a more aggressive body kit and trunk lip spoiler. Rumours suggest it could be all-wheel-drive, instead of the traditional rear-drive setup.
