Grand Sport and Z06 wheels can be bent or cracked, according to some reports.
Current-generation Chevy Corvettes with Grand Sport or Z06 trims might be advised to have their wheels checked by a local shop. Some people are reporting that the alloys may be defective. A CarComplaints report this week states that a person who leased a 2018 Corvette from a California dealer only to find two bent wheels has filed a class-action lawsuit. He took delivery of the sports car and drove it straight to CalChrome to have the wheels covered.
Needless to mention, the plaintiff contacted the Chevy To demand that the defective wheels be replaced under his bumper-to-bumper warranty, he went to the dealer where he bought the car. The dealer refused to replace the alloys and blamed the Corvette’s owner. He claimed that the Corvette’s driving style caused the wheels to bend. After complaining to GM multiple times, the company eventually agreed to give him $1200. However, the owner of the Corvette paid $7,500 for the replacement wheels. This seems a little too high to be honed.
The suit claims that GM isn’t living up to its promise by blaming drivers and not replacing the wheels under the 3-year, 36,000-mile warranty. The Corvette owners filed a complaint to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. The proposed lawsuit claims that the defective wheels are from Grand Sport Corvettes, as well as Z06s, from 2015 to the present.
The class-action lawsuit accuses GM of intentionally concealing these issues to sell cars that aren’t in good condition.
