The dealership has sold all of its Leaf inventory because of the incentive.
Dealerships know how to find creative ways to move inventory from showroom floors to customers’ driveways. One dealership in Springfield, Virginia is using a unique strategy to bring customers. Hart Nissan offered a 99-cent Leaf leasing deal if you purchase a 2021 Nissan Titan full size pickup. You can also get a cheap electric vehicle if you buy a truck.
Although the Leaf’s lease cost isn’t exactly under $1, once you add in taxes and fees, it still represents a great deal. To get the lease, you must purchase the Titan at its full price. It is for two years and includes a 10,000-mile annual allowance. Car and Driver reported the deal on Monday after Dan Carney, an auto journalist, tweeted about it. However, increased media attention has since cleared the Leaf inventory at the dealership, according to The Drive.
Car and Driver reported the deal when they said that the dealership had only five Leafs on hand. It’s not surprising that they have sold out. The better-equipped Nissan Leaf Plus models offer a range of between 215 to 226 miles (346 or 363 kilometers depending on which trim. Nissan has updated the Titan to the 2020 model year. It features a new appearance and more power from the 5.6-liter V8. This engine produces 400 horsepower (298 kilowatts), and 413 pound feet (559 Newton-meters).
The Leaf is now in its second generation. It was introduced by Nissan for the 2018 model year. From just over 30,000 Leafs in 2014, to 12,365 in 2019, the sales of this model have dropped. Through the first quarter of 2019, Nissan sold 2,295 Leafs. The Ariya is an all-electric crossover which will attract more customers to the company’s lineup.
