Cadillac teased the Escala in this 2019 XT4 ad

We are intrigued.

It took them a while, but Cadillac finally entered the small luxury crossover market with the new XT4. This subcompact, high-riding model was revealed earlier this year at New York Auto Show. It should now be available at a Cadillac dealer near to you. The company released a series of commercials in October to promote its new product. One particular commercial stood out.

The ad is attached at the end. It shows the new XT4 walking along Los Angeles’ streets and finally arriving in front the Escala theatre (at 0:15 mark). But, the Escala theater is not located in that area. As you can see, the Rialto theatre is located in that area.

Just beneath the Escala theater is a shop . This is Urban Outfitters in real-life. On one of the windows, it says “New Arrivals”. These are all reasons to believe that Cadillac is getting ready for the production-ready Escala to replace the name (and stunning we might add) presentation more than two decades ago.

What is the “soon” time frame? We don’t really know the answer, but we hope we won’t be waiting too long. It might take some time for Cadillac to introduce the Escala final form, if a report is correct. Although it’s not “soon”, we do believe that the Escala concept will eventually be in production. This is something we cannot say about the Elmiraj and Ciel.

The Escala will go into production at Detroit-Hamtramck’s Detroit-Hamtramck plant in December 2021, if the rumor mill is true. Although the new Caddy will likely share the same platform as the CT6, it is not yet known what shape it will take. It might not even be a sedan. Although it is too early to predict, a coupe-bodied CT6 is being considered. It will be in whatever form it takes, but fingers are crossed that the styling of the concept will translate to the road-going car.
