Kia has joined the European station wagon D-segment. It will be selling its new Optima Sportswagon in the continent’s fourth quarter. With the rear seats folded, the model has a boot volume that measures 19.5 cubic feet (552 Liters).

The interior of the Optima sedan looks familiar. It features the same gloss black trim and chrome accents. There is also an infotainment system that has a 7.0-inch or 8.0 inch touchscreen display. The car comes standard with a six-speaker soundsystem, but optionally, a wireless smartphone charger or an eight-speaker Harman Kardon stereo system.

Customers will have the option of three engines for the Kia Optima Sportswagon. We expect the 1.7-liter diesel engine to be the main motor for Europe. It generates 140 horsepower (103kilowatts) as well as 251 pound-feet (334 newton meters). This engine can be mated with either a 6-speed manual transmission or a seven-speed automatic transmission with two clutches.

The range also includes 2.0-liter turbocharged and naturally aspirated petrol engines. The NA motor produces 160 hp (118kW) and 140 lbft (196Nm) of torque. The turbo version generates 241 HP (177kW) and 352 lbft (352Nm) respectively.
