The video below shows both runs and the average speed. It suggests that the Mean Mower may be capable of reaching 100 mph faster. For the first attempt, it took 6.43 seconds to reach the target speed. However, the driver cuts that time to 6.12 seconds in the second attempt.
The Honda Mean Mower was previously awarded the title World’s Fastest Lawnmower in 2014. It reached a speed of 116.57mph (187.6 km/h). In 2018, the company returned to the project to create this updated version. Part of the improvement effort replaced a 108-horsepower (81 kilowatts) 1.0-liter VTR Firestorm motorcycle engine with a CBR1000RR mill that produces 190 horsepower (142 kW). The CBR motorcycle also provided the rest of the powertrain including the clutch, gearbox, and ECU as well as the LCD instrument panel. Honda claimed that the Mean Mower can reach speeds of over 150 mph (or 241 kph) if there is enough road.
The exterior design of the Mean Mower is based on a Honda HF2622 riding lawn mower, but it has a customized space frame to handle the power. The dry weight of the vehicle is only 152.3 pounds (69.1 kgs). Two batteries power electric motors that spin carbon fibre blades. The tires provide the vehicle with the required traction and are custom Hoosier racing tires.
