No official debut date has been set yet.
UAZ Russia’s domestic car manufacturer has published a photo showing a camper built on the Profi pickup truck. The camper will be equipped with all the necessary amenities for long distances away from civilization. We should see it soon, according to the company. The company did not provide a timeline.
Although the new home-away from-home has not yet been named, UAZ claims it will include everything you need to have quiet solitude. A sofa that converts into a raised bed, well-equipped kitchen and bathroom with toilet and shower are some of the features. Although details are not available, the photo shows a two-level layout. The sleeping compartment is hidden under the tall roof.
UAZ did not specify the date of the new camper’s debut or when it would go on sale. The company did however indicate that it will break cover in “foreseeable future”. UAZ posted a picture of the camper to Instagram. The company commented that they don’t plan on offering a diesel engine for the camper. It will likely have a 2.7-liter gasoline engine that produces between 140 and 150 horsepower (106 or 111 kilowatts), which should provide enough power for most people.
It’s not surprising that the company has moved to campers. The pandemic saw a dramatic increase in demand for campers and other getaway vehicles, which is now reaching Russia. It’s an easy way to travel, and UAZ must be expanding its market share. UAZ has not yet announced the price, but it is expected to be less than R500,000 ($6,830 at current exchange rate). UAZ is keen to join the action.
