Mercedes-Benz confirmed that the model will be produced after it was shown as the CLS shooting brake concept during the 2010 Beijing International Automotive Fair. Daimler AG Chairman Dr. Dieter Zetsche stated that the CLS Shooting Brake is a testament to Mercedes-Benz’s leadership in innovative passenger car designs and concepts – exactly what customers demand.
The engines expected to be used in the CLS Class four-door coupe are the same. Expect a 204 PS (151 kW/201 hp), 250 CDI blueEFFICIENCY; a 265 PS (265 kW/ 262 HP) 350 CDI blueEFFICIENCY; a 306 PS (322 kW/ 302 horsepower) 350 BlueEFFICIENCY; and a 408 PS (408 kW/ 402hp), 500 BlueEFFICIENCY.
The wagon/estate version will launch in 2012 and will compete with the Audi A7 and BMW 5-Series GT.
