2020 Mini Cooper S Countryman All4 Gets 30% more Electric Range

New battery technology improves driving range

Mini, a British brand that is more traditionalist than most, has been eager to keep up with the latest developments in EV technology. The production model is still far off, but that hasn’t stopped them from teasing their Mini E lineup. They call it the “industry’s first electric hot hatch”. The IAA Cars 2019 International Motor Show will feature their latest electric mobility offerings, including the Mini Cooper SE as well as the Mini Cooper S E Countryman HTML4 plug-in hybrid.

British carmaker, Mini Plant Oxford, will also be celebrating its 60th year at the IAA Cars 2019 Show. Since 1959, production has surpassed the 10,000,000 mark. Frankfurt will host the Mini Plant Oxford’s 60th Anniversary Mini 3-door hatchback. It features exclusive designs and equipment features that are reminiscent of the original Mini.

A new generation high-voltage battery was installed on the Mini Cooper S E Countryman All4 without changing its dimensions. The battery’s gross energy capacity has been increased from 7.7 to 10.0kWh to increase the electric range to 34-35 miles (55-57 km). To save space, the lithium battery is located under the rear seat. It can be fully charged in just five hours using a standard wall socket or three hours and fifteen minutes if plugged into an outlet.

Mini Cooper S E Countryman All4’s hybrid system uses a combination of an electric motor and a three-cylinder gasoline engine. The combined horsepower figure is 224. The hybrid-specific all-wheel drive system transfers power to either the front or back wheels according to your needs. MINI Cooper S E Countryman ALL4 can accelerate from 0-60 mph in just 6.8 seconds.
