Kia Pickup Truck Development Confirmed. Arriving in 2022 or 2023 At least in Australia. Kia has been hard at work building a pickup that will take on mid-size options like Ford or Toyota. This information was provided by Kia’s Damien Meredith who informed CarsGuide that work has started on the truck. The Chief Operating Officer of South Korean brand Kia Australia shared the news that the pickup will arrive Down Under in 2022/23, with a Hyundai variant arriving around the same time. Future Kia Fodder Meredith says that the Kia pickup does not fit the criteria of a “lifestyle vehicle”, like the unibody Honda Ridgeline and the Hyundai Santa Cruz concept. Meredith told the Australian publication that they have requested the complete gambit. The COO added that the truck will offer dual and single cabs as well as gas- and diesel engine options. Any geographer will tell anyone that Australia is not the United States. This is why we reached Kia Motors America to assess the truck’s potential in the U.S. The spokesperson for the brand could not comment on comments made about it outside of the US market, but said that Kia is always looking at the American market for new opportunities. We assume that the truck will be used in the USA. This means that the Australian market single-cab and diesel engines are likely to be eliminated. These options aren’t available among the U.S.-market competitors, which include the Chevrolet Colorado and Ford Ranger. Mid-Size Pickup Madness Both could still make it to the truck, and if they do, everything is possible. Once a Kia spokesperson responds to us with information about the truck’s potential U.S. market, we’ll update this area.
