Although it’s only temporary, Lamborghini has made this holiday a reality.
It’s the season of miracles, friends. Although getting a car isn’t truly miraculous in the grand scheme, the video above transcends a car and shows how it can be done. Even a spectacular one like a Lamborghini Aventador S. This video is about positivity, following your dreams and encouraging others to be kind. It is also about a family building an Aventador and getting the real Lamborghini . We’ll explain more.
This may all sound familiar? We ran an article about the Backus family in October. Xander, 11, loves his Aventador, and he enjoys racing it in video games alongside his dad, Sterling. Xander approached his dad to build an Aventador. He was the coolest dad around, so he agreed. It’s been over a year and half since then and, though the car is now capable of moving on its own, there’s still much to do. It’s a touching story that anyone can relate to, especially petrolheads such as us.
Lamborghini was notified about the Backus family’s special Aventador project. It is primarily built with 3D-printed body panels, lots of love, and a lot of love. The Backus family sent a crew of cameramen to Colorado to film the family in special holiday videos. But they also sent another car, a brand-new Aventador S. This was secretly parked in the garage at night. Dad was present at the switch, but it seems that no one else in the family was aware of what was happening. Young Xander’s expression when the garage opened says it all. You are witnessing an 11-year old’s dream come true, friends. Is life possible?
The Aventador S is not a permanent addition to the family. The elder Backus explains that the car was loaned to them for a few weeks.
While some might feel compelled to be angry at Lamborghini for not giving their car, we don’t think so. The car is not the only gift. The gift is the boy’s dream, and for fathers, it’s more important to make their children’s dreams come true. They already own an Aventador, and they are building it together. This makes it even more special than any Lambo ever made in Italy. We believe Lamborghini’s recognition and appreciation of that effort without undermining it is more important than giving them a hypercar.
Lamborghini certainly is reaping positive publicity from all of this. But you know what? It was a positive thing. We look forward to more positive things from this new partnership that will see not a brand new Lamborghini Aventador in Colorado but a Backus Aventador XS Special cruising down the streets. It will be an unforgettable day.
