High demand is possible with hotter performance and limited production runs.
Honda only offered 100 examples of the 2021 Civic Type R limited edition in Canada. They sold out in four minutes after the automaker made reservations via an online portal. The buyers didn’t know the CTR price, which made the sale even more impressive. To reserve a place, they had to pay a $1,000 deposit.
“We anticipated high demand for the vehicle as the Civic Type R has a loyal and strong fan base,” Steve Hui (assistant vice-president sales & marketing Honda Canada) said Automotive News Canada. We were surprised by how quickly they sold, despite the fact that this is a limited edition. The 2021 Civic Type R Limited Edition
It comes in a unique Phoenix Yellow exterior color, with gloss black roof, mirror caps and hood intake vent. It is equipped with forged BBS aluminum wheels, which reduce 18 pounds (8.165 kg) of unsprung weight, and Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 performance rubbers wrapped around them. The rear heater ducts and sound deadening are removed, which saves 28 pounds (12.7 kg).
All of the updates to the refreshed 2020 Civic TypeR are available for the Limited Edition. Two-piece brake discs are used in the updated model, along with new brake pads and suspension adjustments. The interior features an Alcantara-wrapped steering column and a redesigned shifter that has shorter throws.
The turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder still produces 306 horsepower (228kilowatts), and 295 pound feet (400 Newton-meters), of torque. A six-speed manual is the only available gearbox.
The Civic Type R Limited Edition will also be available in the United States. 600 units will be brought by the company. Some will also be available in Europe.
