Base model starts at $24,885.
Two months ago, preliminary pricing information for the 2020 Ford Escape was posted to the Internet via leaked orders guides. Ford now has an online configurator available for its compact crossover, also known as Kuga in Europe. This allows you to view all pricing information. The base S model, which has a 1.5-liter EcoBoost engine with front-wheel drive, starts at $24,885 before destination charges. The new Escape will cost you $780 more than the entry-level 2019 Escape.
The base model comes on 17-inch steel wheels and four-wheel disc brakes. It also has an eight-speed automatic transmission with a rotary shift dial. The three-cylinder gasoline engine produces 180 horsepower and 177 pounds-feet (240 Newton meters) of torque. An electric parking brake, manual front and rear seats can be adjusted, as well as sliding rear seats. Single-zone manual climate control is also available. Standard equipment includes the Ford Co-Pilot360, selectable driving modes, and a 4.2-inch driver’s display.
The Escape SE is available starting at $27,095. Ford will include its SYNC3 infotainment system with an 8.-inch touchscreen and heated front seats.
The SE Sport Hybrid is a higher-end model that costs $28,255. It combines a 2.5-liter naturally aspirated engine with an electric motor, and has a continuously variable transmission. You can choose from front- or all-wheel drive. The FWD version offers a combined output power of 198 horsepower and 153 lbft (207 Nm). A 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster is available in the electrified model.
The Escape SEL ($29.255) adds a hands free electric tailgate, better seats, and a reverse sensing device to the vehicle. The three-cylinder engine comes with AWD for an additional $1,500, while the EcoBoost four-cylinder EcoBoost engine costs $2,285. AWD can be added for an additional $1,100 if you purchase the larger engine.
The All-New Ford Escape is Now Available
The Escape Titanium, which costs $33,400, features 19-inch alloys, leather seats, and a Bang & Olufsen soundsystem with a subwoofer. The standard package includes the front-wheel drive and hybrid powertrain. However, if you are willing to spend $2,885, you will be able to have the 2.0-liter EcoBoost engine with AWD and a class II trailer tow box as part of your 401A package. The turbocharged four cylinder mill produces 250 horsepower and 275 lb.ft (374 Nm).
Although most paint colors are free, Ford will charge an additional $395 for Rapid Red and $595 to get Star White. To maximize the configurator’s capabilities, you can add miscellaneous items like $210 splash guards and $75 wheel-locking nuts to your vehicle, a $90 cargo rug, the $135 easy access cargo shade and $125 front- and rear floorliners.
The $1,495 panoramic sunroof is a more expensive option than the $1.995 Titanium Premium package. This includes the above sunroof as well as a head-up display. Ford also offers roof rail crossbars at $145 but they are not available with the pano roof.
The most expensive 2020 Ford Escape is $40,705 after all options are checked, before handling and destination charges.
Keep in mind that the plug-in hybrid powertrain of 209 horsepower and 153 lbft (207 Nm), will be available in spring 2020 for all trims, except SE Sport and S. The PHEV Escape in Titanium will be more expensive than the conventionally-powered model. It will also have a longer electric range (EPA-estimated at 30 miles, 48 kilometers).
