BMW M Boss Rules Out M Wagons Because People Want M SUVs

This is the sad reality that we live in.

For almost a year, rumors of an M3 Touring production vehicle have been circulating on the Internet. But there is no evidence of it. BMW created this extraordinary M3 wagon using the E46 in 2000. However, it was only used for internal chores. The BMW M boss Markus Flasch told Car Magazine that an M3 wagon is unlikely to be seen anytime soon. He said that a high-performance M tourer model was not on the agenda and that the M340i Touring will suffice.

The bottom line is that while the M3 Touring may be in demand in certain parts of the globe, it’s not enough to make a business case. BMW M believes SUVs are more practical. This is why they just launched the X3 M and the X4 M, to join their larger brothers, the X5 M, and the X6 M.

If you are looking for a BMW M wagon real, your only options are to buy a used M5 touring of the E34 or E61 generation. Both have a powerful V10 engine and a very impressive SMG transmission. BMW’s go faster division produced fewer than 900 and just over 1,000 of both the former and the latter. They won’t be appearing in classifieds very often.

There are two options worth looking at: the 202-mph Alpina Bi-Turbo Traveling, also known as the world’s fastest production wagon, and the upcoming long roof B3 that we will see next month in Frankfurt as part of our M340i Touring.

Let’s not forget the M5 Touring (E34), which is the most powerful BMW wagon ever made, equipped with a V12 McLaren F1 engine.
