Rain won’t stop this Porsche 918 Spyder from hitting 207 MPH

This is not something you can do at home.

When it rains, driving is not the best option. Even a slight drizzle can mean slippery roads. Wet roads also mean less friction between concrete and tires. Safety is not a concept that the Porsche 918 Spyder has in its vocabulary – or at the least the driver of this video.

A Porsche 918 Spyder tried to achieve its maximum speed on a 2.7-mile runway during a tire test at Johnny Bohmer Proving Grounds, Merritt Island, Florida. The 918 Spyder would have had no problem achieving this feat. It’s powered by a 600-horsepower, naturally-aspirated, 4.6-liter engine as well as two electric motors that produce an additional 282 horsepower. It’s not really important whether the hybrid supercar can reach its top speed, but rather how long.

But there is one problem: it’s raining and concrete has become wet. This may seem like the end of showtime, but it’s not.

Rain won't stop this Porsche 918 Spyder from hitting 207 MPH

The guys who were testing the tires persevered despite the slippery road. The Porsche 918 Spyder was launched with the intent to travel 217 mph, and it has already reached its top speed. It was in perfect condition and had no problems.

The supercar was unable to reach its maximum speed at the end of the straight and could only travel 207 mph. It was a great run, and we think this driver has the right pair to pull off such a dangerous stunt on wet surfaces.

Dear reader, a warning: Please don’t attempt this at home. We don’t think you should do this unless you are driving a Porsche 918 Spyder.
