It’s better to fix the problem than let the screw go.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has recalled some vehicles to fix serious issues that could cause injury or death. This is not one of them. NHTSA issued a recall to one Bugatti Chiron in America to tighten a loose bolt.
If you have the Chiron With an assembly date of November 16, 2017, you can take your hypercar to dealer. NHTSA reports that Bugatti’s front frame support installation had a torque rating in excess of 19 Nm (14.01 Lb-ft) as compared to the minimum requirement of 19.
The chronology that led to the discovery of the problem showed Bugatti discovered on March 3, 2022 that the torque wrench did not indicate that the screw was not reaching the minimum torque amount. An internal investigation was initiated by Bugatti that day. They analyzed the “screw connections database” for all Chiron production runs. The company decided that this vehicle needed to be recalled on March 21.
Bugatti will transport the Chiron to an authorized workshop. There, technicians will inspect the torque of the screw and tighten it to the right specification.
Bugatti now has an entire order book for the Chiron, to complete the 500-car production run. If everything goes according to plan, the final delivery won’t occur until 2024. The Super Sport and Pur Sport models are the last to leave the factory. Bugatti delivered the first Super Sport to a customer on April 20, 2022, even though it had already revealed the model in 2021.
The supercar manufacturer is currently preparing to launch the successor to its Chiron. After Rimac’s merger, this is the first Bugatti new car to arrive. The intention to combine the powertrain is one of the major changes. The combustion engine component is still a mystery.
Bugatti will show the Chiron successor this year to its wealthy customers to begin collecting orders for the new model. We will have to wait till 2024 for the new hypercar.
