A Modified BMW Z4 is Ready for Off-Road Adventures and It’s Up For Sale

It received a Safari-spec makeover.

While crossovers and SUVs are still popular, there are other options available for those who want something small but off-road-friendly. Look at the used market. Bring a Trailer This modified 2007 BMW Z4 M Coupe underwent a Safari-spec overhaul that went beyond adding a higher suspension and chunkier tires.

The Z4 M Coupe Safari’s most striking feature isn’t its improved off-road performance. It’s actually the custom rear hatch, which houses two spare tires that stick out. This really enhances the Safari-like styling. It’s only one of many changes to the BMW. To accommodate larger 235/65 Toyo Open Country T tires (which wrap around Black Rhino 17 inch wheels), the owner modified the bumpers, fenders and grilles. An aftermarket skid plate protects the hardware and adds to the coupe’s offroad capabilities.

BMW’s S54 inline-6 engine, a 3.2-liter S54, is under the hood. It’s rated for 330 horsepower (246 Kilowatts) as well as 262 lb-ft (355 Newton meters) of torque. The rear wheels are powered by a six-speed manual gearbox with limited slip differential and a six speed manual gearbox. The interior is black leather and features a multi-function 3-spoke steering wheel, navigation and automatic climate control. It is stock, not the off-road-ready exterior.

The front also features four Baja Design offroad lights and an Aurora LED light bar measuring 40 inches (101 centimeters) that is mounted to the custom black roof rack. The rear also has a carbon-fiber lip spoiler. It is hard to see in the photos.

The car is available for sale on BAT without reserve. However, the current bid is $15,000 and there are still six more days until the auction closes. The car has 150,000 miles. The seller added 250 to the mileage when he bought it last year. It was involved in an accident in February 2009, according to the CarFax.
