A Turquoise Acura-TLX Test Mule Found On The Road

This could be the Type-S trim.

New spy photos capture a strange TLX test mule on the road. It’s identity remains a mystery. This could be the first hint we have about the changes to the sporty TLX Type S.

This strange vehicle has a camouflaged front and some bizarre details underneath. It’s difficult to miss the unusual turquoise color of the body panels running across the front end. Acura may be trying to conceal the parts twice as hard. However, we don’t often see automakers using this colorful method of concealment.

A second oddity is the fact that the headlights look like halogen pieces but Acura’s Jewel Eye LEDs are only available in the TLX.

Acura engineers have added fender flares to the rear of their vehicle, possibly for fitting slightly larger tires. The trapezoidal exhausts are slightly wider than those currently on the TLX.

Acura camouflages interior to indicate that there are modifications. A screen is visible at the top of your dashboard. The TLX’s existing display is covered with a shroud to protect it from the sun glare.

Acura plans to launch a sportsy line of Type S models . This model would feature a turbocharged V6 engine with torque-vectoring Super handling All-Wheel Drive. This test mule may have a sportier version due to its modified exhaust and wider fenders. However, these vehicles won’t be extreme track machines. Motor1.com spoke to Zach Vlasuk, Acura’s PR representative in January. He said that the Type-S models were more like a mildly sporty Mercedes C43 rather than a C63/BMW M3.
