Have you ever looked at your Multivan and thought, “I think it should have bigger wheels?”
In reality, there are two types of van owners: those who tend to have lots of stuff and those who tend lots of people. These are usually people who own a logistics or repair business that requires a reliable way to transport parts and equipment. There are also shuttle drivers and people who have large families. Every seat is used by someone who has to go to the airport, or their loved ones. ABT thinks there’s a niche van market. They just revealed that they have been developing a modified Multivan. ABT isn’t a cargo company. It’s a highly successful tuning company that has worked with many manufacturers, including Audi, Volkswagen and Seat.
ABT didn’t just put big wheels on the T6.1 Multivans and call it a day. ABT had to make this highly-regarded and beloved line of VW commercial vans even faster. ABT offers a choice of either 19-inch or 20 inch wheels. Some opt for retro styling with lots of chrome and two-tone paint. ABT Sportsline’s Bilstein Height Adjustable suspension kits give the hauler a boost in handling. They add an “unexpected light-footedness, precision and agility.” You can also drop the body from 40 to 70mm.
This is because the underhood upgrade is the most important. The 2.0-liter turbo-diesel will get a 180 horsepower boost and 295 pound feet of torque. This is in addition to the stock 150 horsepower, 250 pound-feet torque. The top-spec 2.0-liter can produce 226 horsepower and 361 pounds-feet. This is in addition to the stock 199 horsepower. It’s pretty cool, right? You can see what ABT can do with the configurator.
