This will be the fitting revival of the iconic coupe.
According to reports, Nissan will bring back the Silvia (also known as the 200SX or 240SX in the US). According to Japan’s Best Car, information from unnamed sources suggests that the Japanese automaker will resurrect the nameplate as part of a “Pure EV Silvia Revival”. If we take this rumor seriously, it means that the Silvia will return as an electric car.
According to the report, the entire plan was triggered last year by the Silvia Evo rendering. Matthew Weaver, Vice President of Nissan Design Europe was responsible for the reimagining of the iconic coupe.
The Silvia revival project was not revealed further except to say that it is said to be moving at an accelerated pace and will reach its destination in 2025. It’s up to you to decide if this is good or bad news. As with all rumors in the industry we need to be skeptical about the report.
Weaver’s Silvia EV rendering, which can be seen in the lead photo at the top of this page, draws a lot from the first-generation model that was unveiled at the 1964 Tokyo Motor Show. This is most evident on the crips line, which separates the upper and lower bodies, as well as the simple executions of the lighting fixtures front and back.
“The Silvia was a pioneer in its day, and it did so in a quiet and understated manner. It has lasted a long time and is still a popular choice for motorists today. It is also an excellent example of what is expected from a global product: high-quality and universally attractive,” Weaver stated.
It’s important to remember that icons are still a part of the global push for vehicle electricity. Let’s listen to the ground and find out if Nissan will continue this project.
