After seven years, this 2014 Lotus Evora finally sold.

You can’t wait for the right buyer!

It is estimated that 92,000,000 new cars were produced in 2019. This is a staggering number and you know not all new cars are sold immediately. Over the years, we’ve done numerous studies on new cars which sell quickly and those that remain on dealer lots . This Lotus Evora sat on dealership lots for a very time. It actually sat there for seven years before it finally found a home, according to Driver.

These are things we hear every now and again. We talked about Lexus selling three brand new LFA supercars in early 2020, despite the car being out of production since 2012. Even if the car is out of production since 2012, niche vehicles are not always in demand. The 2014 Evora S 2+2 has a base MSRP around $80,000. However, this model was more than $90,000. This particular model was sold at Secor Lotus in Connecticut. Although the vehicle listing is still available on the dealer’s site, it advises interested parties that they “call for price.”

Evidently, very few people called and the dealership was not interested in selling or wheeling the car. Car and Driver report that the Lotus dealer felt the brand had been undervalued, and kept the car as a protest. This Evora remained on the lot despite other Evoras being sold at lower prices than MSRP. According to reports, it was sold recently to a Long Island buyer for $70,000. We understand that it was sold for the same price as many Evoras back then.

Over the years, certain things have changed. This new Lotus does not have a factory warranty. The tires and all rubber hoses and lines are over seven years old. To keep the tires in better shape, the dealer overinflated them. All fluids except for synthetic engine oil were also changed. The car was allowed to start and then kept in climate-controlled storage. The car was not used for demonstration purposes and it wasn’t driven in many test drives. According to reports, the odometer has logged less than 100 miles.

Although we are not sure if this is the oldest American new car, it’s safe to say that this Evora still has a home. Secor Lotus’ 2018 Evora 400 is still available in an inventory search. This car may also be available at a bargain price.
