After the First Spy Photos, Audi Q5 Etron Rendering

It’s already looking quite promising.

Volkswagen Group is advancing the development of electric vehicles. This is true for both the Volkswagen core brand and the premium Audi marque. Ingolstadt-based automaker E-Tron GT has just been unveiled. Now, the company is focusing on its high-riding zero-emission flotilla.

An earlier batch of spy photos confirmed that the Q4 Etron and Q4 Sportback E–Tron were not the only electric SUVs Audi is working on. Our Motor1.com spies captured a prototype of Q5 E-Tron with its production body, and without any fake camouflage panels.

There was not much imagination left at this stage, so someone had to take the Porsche Macan’s next generation brother from another mom. Avarvarii was responsible for this task and was brought to our attention via Motor.es by our colleagues and friends.

The VAG Q5 E-Tron is one of the first vehicles to utilize the Premium Platform Electric (PPE), which is reserved for larger and higher-powered EVs. It will be shared by the new Macan. The next generation is expected to become fully electric. Smarter packaging and the absence of a central tunnel should allow for adequate space inside the cabin.

Advanced features like adaptive air suspension, torque vectoring and rear-wheel steerability could be added to the Q5 E-Tron. The base models, which rely on an RWD configuration, are being developed into single- and dual-motor versions.

The new Porsche Macan as well as the Q5 E-Tron will be available for purchase in the coming year. Stay tuned for more information and spy photos.
