Alfa Romeo GT Reborn As 500-HP Giulia Quadrifoglio-Based Restomod

Modern power meets classic looks

The Alfa Romeo GT coupe has all the hallmarks of a classic. The GT and GTV models were first introduced in 1963. They were followed by the Junior and Veloce variants until 1965. One company, the Emilia GT Veloce, wants to bring back the Alfa GT’s classic magic.

Emilia Auto, German specialists, had the brilliant idea of putting a twin-turbocharged V6 engine with a 2.9-liter displacement from the Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio into a classic GT coupe. It produces 500 horsepower (372kilowatts) as well as 443 pound-feet (603 newton-meters), and is paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission and all wheel drive.

Emilia Auto fitted the GT Veloce’s engine with a modern KW coilover. This kit features a fully independent suspension with a double wishbone front and multilink rear. Power adaptive steering, an electronic limit-slip differential and Brembo brakes are also available.

The GT Veloce retains many of its iconic cues, including the V-shaped grille design and the rounded headlight design. The Emilia Auto team modified the hoodlilne to better fit components such as the V6 or the upgraded suspension. They also reworked many body panels and added LEDs at the taillight and headlight fixtures. Even the 19-inch custom wheels are influenced by the original rims of the Alfa GT.

The interior has a similar theme. Many of the car’s favorite cues are preserved thanks to the minimalist approach. The GT Veloce uses a large, wood-rimmed steering column, despite the Recaro sport seats and modern gauges. Even though the GT Veloce is an automatic vehicle, the traditional shift knob can still be found in the center console.

Dr. Ralf Hendrik Steinkuehler is the founder of Emilia Auto. “We noticed that potential customers, even though they still love classic cars, are less tolerant when it comes to their weaknesses,” he said. “Many beautiful cars are lost in collections and rarely driven anymore… this was our starting point.”

The Emilia GT Veloce rendering is currently only a rendering. The company is accepting orders for 22 limited-run vehicles worldwide. The first car will debut in the second quarter of 2022. This classic car is priced at $473,000 (EUR400,000) according to current conversion rates.
