Rumours of the end for Camaro continue to swirl.
The Chevy Camaro has not been doing well. The two-door Chevy has seen its sales drop over the past year. 2021 doesn’t plan to reverse this trend. Rumours have circulated that GM may discontinue the model. However, the nameplate could be used on a different vehicle. Unofficial renderings show what the Camaro could look like.
These renderings were inspired by the Cadillac Escala Concept, a stylish and sleek four-door sedan that debuted during the 2016 Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance. These renderings show the Cadillac Escala with a new front and rear fascias. The styling incorporates bits of the BoltEUV front fascia, such as the triangular headlights that are positioned low into the bumper. Between them is a faux grille. The styling element that most closely resembles the Camaro is the thin grille above them. It features the Chevy bowtie in the middle and thin-slit daytime running lamps.
The rear of the Camaro is a different story. It has a unique, full-width taillight that sits on a restyled trunk. The trunk lid has a little red RS badge to add a touch of sportiness. However, this rendering is only a rendering and there is no possibility of a four-door all electric Camaro.
Although it would not be an unusual move, moving the Camaro nameplate away from a two-door sports car and into a four-door all electric sedan would be a major step for Ford. A four-door Camaro sedan seems possible if Ford can use Mustang’s name for an EV crossover . The Camaro sedan rumor has no time frame, but it is possible that it will arrive after 2024. However, the current Camaro will still be available until then.
