Alpha Jax CUV Launches with Electric Power, Space For Four

You can already make a reservation.

Alpha just announced a new product in retro styling, following the Ace sport car debut last December. The Jax electric crossover utility vehicle, which is built on the same platform as the electric vehicle, is shown in the gallery below. It combines “versatile, all-road performance and durability with clean power.”

The Jax is still a concept. It stands for a junior all-terrain crossover. This suggests that there may be larger and more capable SUVs from the automaker in the future. The Jax is built on the same architecture as the Ace two-door, and was designed with a 75-kWh lithium-ion battery in mind.

Although it may appear small, the Jax measures 4,560 millimeters (180 in) in length and 1,930mm (76 in), in width. This is about the same size as the Subaru Forester’s previous generation. The utility can seat four people and has 1,769 Liters (62.5 cubic feet), of combined storage.

Alpha envisages two versions of the vehicle: one with a single motor powertrain and the other with an AWD system. The latter should allow it to tow 839 kg (1,850 lb) and accelerate from a standstill at 60 mph (0-96 km/h) in 6.5 seconds. 250 miles is the maximum range of the batteries on a single charge.

Alpha claims it designed the Jax to meet the needs of “consumers who want solid four-wheel drive performance without carbon emissions.” Alpha states it is currently accepting early orders.

Although the company has not yet revealed its production plans, the Jax will be available for purchase starting at $38,000. Alpha plans to start delivering electric cars to American customers by 2023, so you’ll have plenty of time to make your decision.
