Single-cab, four-wheel drive, but no production date has been set.
Alpha Motor Corporation has been announcing its Jax electric CUV for less than a month. The California-based company has entered the EV pickup truck market. Wolf is a compact pickup truck that could be the most classic of the new crop of electric trucks. It could also be the most affordable, with an estimated starting cost of less than $40,000
Here are the facts. The Wolf measures just over 15 feet in length and is significantly smaller than the other animals. Toyota Tacoma And Nissan Frontier Comparing the new-generation with the old-generation Ford Ranger . The Wolf is a compact pickup. However, it has “intended” lithium-ion power of 75 to 85 Kilowatts per hour. It can reach 60 mph in 6.2 seconds. You can either turn the front wheels with a single motor or use four-wheel drive in dual-motor configuration. The maximum range of the battery is 275 miles.
Wolf’s exterior styling is retro. This truck is a refreshing departure from the world of four-door pickup trucks with huge dimensions. It has a square cab, simple tailgate and classic rollbar. This is the way pickups were used to look, and it will appeal to conservative truck buyers who don’t want to deal with crazy EV designs such as the Tesla Cybertruck. It’s not hard to admire the Wolf’s broad stance and large tires.
The interior is anything but retro. The cabin is minimalist and almost devoid of buttons. There are only two toggle switches on each side of the steering wheel, and two stalks at the column. The only notable features of the greenhouse are a digital instrument panel for drivers and a portrait-mounted central infotainment display. Alpha does not go into detail about options and amenities but it does highlight the multi-layered storage in the center console and the bolstered seat.
Details on the EV’s underpinnings are not available. Wolf shares its modular platform and the Jax, which underpins the small Ace EV compact coupe . Alpha estimates that Wolf should be priced at $36,000 due to its modular design. This would be a significant discount on all future electric pickup trucks, even though Wolf is considerably smaller than the rest.
Alpha Motor Corporation now accepts reservations for Wolf. The company release doesn’t give any estimates of production or on-sale dates. Motor1.com reached out to Alpha for more information. We’ll update this article as soon as we have new information.
