Mercedes has confirmed that a new GT will be available.
X-Tomi Design released a rendering of the new Mercedes-AMG GT GT that shows what the Coupe will look like upon its arrival. Hot on the heels of the 2022 SL debut the automaker has confirmed that the convertible will have an AMG GT companion. Although the GT will share some components with the SL, it will also have a few other components.
Although we don’t know how original the GT Coupe’s design is, the SL is a very attractive two-door. X-Tomi Design uses the SL as the base for its GT Coupe rendering. This replaces the soft-top convertible roof with a hardtop. There are subtler design changes that the car has made, however, which are not as obvious. Because the Coupe’s roofline is more natural, it doesn’t require all the SL’s convertible hardware.
While two-door cars make up a small percentage of the car market, Mercedes believes that the AMG GT and the new SL can co-exist in the company’s product portfolio. The SL was designed by Mercedes to appeal to people who want a comfortable and luxurious cruiser. While the GT is for those who are looking for a fast sports car, the GT will be a more track-oriented model. Both will be built on the same platform, and both will feature the same twin-turbocharged V8 engine of 4.0-liter capacity.
Mercedes didn’t indicate when the GT would be available to us. The GT was introduced in 2015, and the company added several variants and high performance trims to the model over the years. The new GT line will follow a similar route once it debuts. New variants and trims will be introduced throughout the model’s lifetime. To see how it differs from the SL, we will need to wait until Mercedes unveils it.
