Performance and hybrid models are on the horizon.
The Aston Martin DBX was put into production last summer, and it now accounts for over half of global sales. Tobias Moers, the CEO of Aston Martin, knows that the SUV is the key to the brand’s future stability and success. He stated that a number more DBX derivatives will be coming over the next three-years to maintain high demand.
Moers, speaking with Motor Trend confirmed that the mild-hybrid DBX will be the first version of the new model before the end of the year. It will be powered by an electrified 3.0-liter turbocharged straight-6 engine, mated with a nine-speed automated gearbox that channels power to all four wheels.
The DBX family will expand next year with the addition of a performance-oriented version. However, it won’t be AMR-branded as AMR is not a brand.
Moers acknowledged that Aston Martin will need “different body styles”, more performance and a more aggressive style. Moers may be referring to a possible “coupe” version the DBX or other body styles. The new additions will most likely be available in 2023 or 2024.
Aston Martin will offer five to six DBX models by 2024. Rumours have circulated about a seven-seat version. Moers suggested it, saying that “you can think of being more luxurious, spacious and sporty” and with more than 1,500 deliveries in just 12 months. There will be a slew more variants. The DBX will continue to be the most popular model in terms sales.
