Audi Refuses To Sell SQ5 In Europe

Mexico is where the SQ5 was built.

Another victim is the new WLTP (Worldwide Harmonized Light Vehicles Test Procedure). Audi will temporarily suspend sales of its SQ5 SUV in Europe, following the M3, M3 and V12 gasoline-powered BMW 7 Series.

According to the German automaker, the decision was due to “a full-build slot.” But Autocar, quoting close sources, claims that new emission standards are at fault. You can only purchase an SQ5 that is already in production and is available for immediate delivery if you don’t want one.

A company spokesperson told the publication that Audi UK had filled all available SQ5 production slots for its 2018 model year allocation. “Only a few cars remain in Audi center stock,” the company stated. For the most current inventory information, customers can contact their local Audi centre.

According to the British publication Audi will require additional time to prepare the vehicle made in Mexico for compliance with the WLTP. This new cycle will be in effect from September 1, 2012.

The HTML5 SUV is Audi’s most dynamic. It is powered by a 3.0-liter turbocharged TFSI V6 engine that generates 354 horsepower (260kilowatts) as well as 369 pound-feet (369 Newton-meters) of torque. This is delivered through a Quattro control system and an 8-speed tiptronic transmission to all four wheels. The setup allows for 0-60 mph (0-96 km/h) in just 5.1 seconds and a top speed of 155 mph (253 kph) electronically.
