You get less reliability when you have more power.
Do you get bored of watching stock cars compete in drag races? Carwow’s latest drag racing event is for you. It features three modified cars that produce more than 1,000 horsepower. What happens when you drag-race an Audi TT RS and Audi R8 V10? All three cars are tuned to Bugatti Veyron power levels. Let’s see what happens.
The humble Audi TT RS is our first choice. It’s a 5-cylinder engined beast that can take modifications very well. The turbocharged inline-5 engine in the Audi TT RS makes 400 horsepower. Storm Motorsport tuned the example today and it now produces 1,100 horsepower (820 Kilowatts). The modifications cost more than the original car’s value. The power was routed through a dual-clutch automated transmission, which sends it to the ground via Audi’s Quattro all wheel-drive system.
Although the Audi R8 is Audi’s pinnacle performance product, it required some attention to match the TT RS in this drag racing event. Auto Torque’s full twin-turbo kit boosts power to 1,200 horses (895 Kilowatts). This revved 5.2-liter V10 engine makes twice its stock horsepower and can take on the most difficult drag race competitors.
The 991.2 Porsche 911 Turbo S is finally here. This car is a perennial drag race favorite and one of the fastest cars on the planet in stock form. The 911 Turbo S’s twin-turbo flat-6 engine of 3.8-liters makes 1,100 horsepower (820 Kilowatts). The boosted engine transmits power through a 7 speed PDK dual-clutch automated transmission. Power is then routed to the pavement via an All-Wheel Drive setup.
Which of these insane 1,000 horsepower builds is fastest in a drag race. Let’s see.
