The BMW 507 is undoubtedly one of the most iconic cars in the history the Bavarian brand. It is largely due to the star status of its clients, including Elvis Presley who purchased two of the 254 units. It is very difficult to find one these days due to its limited availability. According to the BMW Classic Zertifikat, the car in the attached gallery was built on January 14, 1958. It is the 110th manufactured 507 and was delivered with a removable hardtop, factory exhaust tips and a warranty. Moreover, only 21 cars received the Silbergrau metallic exterior paint.
It was interesting to note that the first owner didn’t sell the car immediately. It was first displayed at the BMW Munich Pavillion, and then it was given to Gustavo Zingg in May 1958, a German businessman, who was the official representative of Mercedes-Benz in Venezuela. Around 1960, the car was returned to Germany and spent the next 50 years in Venezuela.
This BMW 507 was restored to its original condition in 2007 by BMW Classic specialists. In 2014, the car returned for a thorough inspection. A BMW Factory Expertise inspection report was issued to the car, which covered quality of finish and authenticity. The car also received an upgraded engine and ZF 4-speed manual gearbox. This 507 900 was rated as good and in good condition by the technical inspection.
This Series II 507 has 52,657 km on it and is being offered by Hemmings for $2.45 million. It is in perfect condition and needs no maintenance or repairs. It’s just like any 507 and has a rich and varied history that will be part of BMW’s legacy throughout North America and around the globe.
