Volkswagen doesn’t sell an Arteon R. However, ABT tuners have a good alternative.
The all-wheel-drive Volkswagen Arteon2.0 TSI has 280 horsepower. However, ABT decided to tweak the turbocharged four cylinder engine to get more power. This unit, which the aftermarket experts call the “legendary engine controller unit”, may be the best alternative for those who miss the V6-equipped CC and long for an Arteon R.
The kit can increase the gasoline engine’s horsepower to 336 hp, or 56 hp over the stock engine. The good news isn’t over as the torque available has been significantly increased from 350 Newton meters (258 lbft) to a substantial 420 Nm (312 lb-ft). Although ABT has not yet shared performance numbers, it is easy to see how the power boost has reduced sprint time relative to the Arteon which takes 5.6 seconds from 62 mph (100 km/h). The CC’s successor can’t exceed the electronically controlled 155 mph (253 kph) speed limiter.
ABT installed stiffer springs to lower the sleek Arteon. This gives it a sportier appearance. It is also wrapped in 245/40R19 winter tires to keep it ready for the next season. You can choose to upgrade to a 20 inch set or go for a larger 21 inch set if you are willing to compromise on ride comfort.
Unfortunately, the interior is not well-reported. This may be the Arteon’s weakest area after it was largely transplanted from its more basic Passat. Some are critical of VW’s inability to spice up the Arteon with more money. It is, after all, the flagship model of the company in Europe.
