The new Mulliner Blackline package, which replaces chrome with blacked out pieces, gives the Bentley Continental GT as well as the GT Convertible a darker appearance. Mulliner, the British brand’s customization department, creates styling packs and builds custom-fitted vehicles for a select clientele.
The new pack adds Mulliner pieces to the Blackline. Bentley claims that 38 percent of Continental GT models worldwide have the Blackline option. This gives Bentley the opportunity to expand the options for wealthy customers.
The exterior brightwork is almost completely replaced by the Mulliner Blackline package. Only the Bentley badge, and the edges of mesh in the grille are exceptions. The shade gloss Beluga black mirror caps are used.
This option includes 22-inch black wheels with self-leveling badges. They also have a chrome ring around their wheels. Bentley will soon offer an option with contrast polished pockets.
Buyers can choose from a wide range of Mulliner’s upholstery colours inside. The company recommends eight three-color combinations if a customer does not want to make the decision to go with Bentley. Interior design features diamond-in-diamond quilting in areas such as the doors and seats.
The powertrain is not affected by this package. The Mulliner Blackline can be ordered with either a W12 6.0-liter twin-turbo W12 with 626 horsepower (900 Newton-meters) and 664 lb-ft (664 kilowatts), or a twin-turbo V8 with 542 HP (404 kW), 558 lb/ft (757 Nm).
Bentley plans to include a plug-in hybrid engine in the Continental GT’s range. According to the automaker’s engineering boss, there is interest from some customers in a model capable of zero emission motoring. The obvious choice is the PHEV setup the Flying Spur Hybrid with 536 horsepower (400 kW) that can travel 25 miles (40 km) on an electric charge.
