Bentley Mulsanne could be indirectly replaced by a Range-Topping SUV

Be open to being surprised

After explaining how the Mulsanne is heading the way of dodos, Bentley now gives some insight into what it will do over the next few years to fill that void. Adrian Hallmark, the boss of the automaker, suggested that the new luxury SUV placed above the Bentayga could play the role as a flagship model.

He said Crewe’s peeps are interested in entering the Mulsanne $300,000.+ segment with a new model and pointed out that almost half of Bentley’s 2019 sales were Bentayga UTVs. Hallmark stated that it will not be a sports car or take the form of the company’s first EV. The zero-emissions vehicle will debut in the middle of this decade. A new, more powerful SUV will launch after that.

This is the one for you if you are a member of the “there’s no substitute for displacement” group. Hallmark stated that Bentley plans to retire the W12 twin-turbo 6.0-liter motor from the new SUV. Driver states that the twin-turbo 6.0-liter engine will be phased out “relatively soon”. While an exact timeframe is unknown, the 5950cc powerhouse likely has less than a few more years left. Audi stated a few years back that the current-generation Audi A8 was its last model with the W12.

According to Tim Hannig, Mulliner boss, the new Bentley crown jewel might not be the only SUV on the horizon. He recently stated that a Bentayga Convertible was possible. Spy shots show that the regular model will receive a mid-cycle facelift, which will include minor cosmetic changes and other changes. We’ll find out more about this change when the updated Bentayga is released later in the year.
