You may be wondering if BMW actually has a convertible version for the new 2 Series. That is something we are also curious about, though there are some indications that it may arrive within one year of the November launch of the new coupe. Although it’s not yet official, we expect the automaker to confirm it within the next few months.

The new 2 Series will be available in two versions at the moment. The base model in America is powered by a turbocharged 2.0-liter engine that produces 255 horsepower (190kW) and 295 pound feet (400 Newton-meters), respectively. The 240ixDrive’s turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-6 engine produces 382 horsepower (285 kW) at its peak and has a maximum torque output of 369 lbft (500 Nm).

Purists won’t be pleased to learn that the 2 Series will be available exclusively with an Automatic Gearbox. A rear-wheel-drive version is in development, but it will not have the stick-shift.
