The 600 horsepower engine is rumored to be the reason for its arrival.
BMW M Boss Franciscus van Meel teased for the first time the M Hommage model yesterday. We now have the first spy photos of the M Hommage model. It’s sporting the same M-inspired livery it wore in the teaser pictures. Although we can’t see every detail, the car is very interesting.
These spy shots gave us a better view of the design changes that will distinguish it from the CSL. The 3.0 CSL Hommage model gets a new front end that features a smaller kidney grille and reshaped headlights. It also has a new bumper. The 3.0 CSLHommage model retains the M4’s hard points, but receives bespoke body panels.
The new M looks very similar to the M4 CSL at the rear, but closer inspection shows that there are some significant changes. Redesigned rear bumper styling features relocated safety markers, and a unique diffuser similar to that on the M4CSL. The back is adorned with quad exhaust pipes. These photos give you a better view of the trunk- and roof-mounted wings.
The new M car will be available sometime in the future, but BMW isn’t revealing when. The powertrain information will not be available until then. The rumor mill says the coupe will be able to produce 600 horsepower (447 Kilowatts) or 516 pound-feet (701 Newton-meters) of torque. This is significantly more than the CSL’s 543 hp (404kW)
BMW electronically limits the M4 CSL to a speed of 191 miles an hour (307 km per hour), while rumors suggest that the new M will not exceed 200 mph (320 kph). The new M coupe should reach 62 mph (100 km/h) in just 3.5 seconds, while the rear wheels are powered by BMW.
The new M will go on sale in June for EUR600,000. BMW plans to produce 50 copies of the new M, which is fitting considering that it marks 50 years of its M division . The new 3.0 CSL Hommage is expected to debut before the end the year. We are hopeful it won’t take too long.
