BMW Individual Colors Available Now Even for Lowly FWD Cars

160 colors are available for the 1 Series Gran Coupe and 2 Series Hatchback.

These have been long awaited and are finally available. BMW has expanded the availability of Individual colours to include the most affordable models, including the 1 Series hatchback or the 2 Series Gran Coupe. You can now order a front-wheel drive car that is based on the UKL2 platform, which was previously only available for high-end models.

There are 160 colors available for both models. These include Speed Yellow, San Marino Blue, Verde Ermes Green and the Audi-esque Nardo Gray. The best way to learn more about the vast color palette is to access an online visualiser. This will show you all the colors available for both the 1er and 4-door 2ers, as well as the larger and more expensive BMWs.

These entry-level models have been produced at the Leipzig plant in Germany. The order books for the remainder of the year are almost full. BMW Japan has ordered 180 units of the 118d in Sepia Violet and Ruby Red.

BMW offers customers the option to customize their colors to make a truly individual paint. The German marque states that it takes a further ten weeks to deliver your 1 Series Gran Coupe or 1 Series Gran Coupe in either one of the 160 colors, or a completely bespoke paint.

BMW considers matte paints to be the most complex, as any defects cannot be repaired with the same methods used for glossy finishes. It takes half an hour to paint a new car with matte colors, which can be either Frozen Orange (or Frozen Black)). The most popular colors according to the German marque are yellow, violet and red.

What’s next? The highly anticipated M2 Coupe will be next to receive the BMW Individual treatment. This makes sense, considering that it is positioned above the front-wheel-drive cars. The standard 2 Series Coupe will offer a wider color palette and Individual hues. However, we wouldn’t be surprised to see the 2 Series Active Tourer minivan get fancy paint.
