BMW M2 Coupe Edition Black Shadow To Celebrate The Model’s Success

Henry Ford once said, “You can have it in any colour you like as long as it is black.”

It is a well-known fact that BMW has a hotter M2 and will sport the “Competition” suffix. However, it appears there is still time to release a special edition to the coupe to show that it has been a strong seller. Global deliveries reached more than 12,000 units in 2017, making the M2 the most popular M car. The company created the Edition Black Shadow version, available only in Sapphire Black metallic.

The limited-run comes on 19-inch black matte wheels with a Y-spoke design. It also has carbon side mirror caps. The M2’s regular features include black chrome exhaust tips, a carbon look for rear diffuser and a kidney grille with a high-gloss finish.

The new BMW M2 Coupe Edition Black Shadow will be available in Europe starting next month. It is all about looks, so there are no changes under the hood. The turbocharged straight six engine is the same as the standard model, good for 343 hp (465 Nm) and 365 hp (272kW) respectively. It can sprint from 62 mph (100 km/h) in 4.3 seconds with the optional seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox. The sprint will take you two tenths more time with the six-speed manual, but it’ll be more enjoyable.

The Competition model will be available in June with a hotter M2 engine. The gearboxes, along with many carbon fiber items, an upgraded suspension and chassis optimizations, will be available.

Keep in mind, the M2 Competition is expected to replace the regular M2, so Edition Black Shadow could be the last chance for the standard M2.
