Top Gear:The company will not remake the classics or the Hommage cars that we love. BMW does however look back at its past catalog for ideas and inspiration. Even Hommage concepts aren’t completely re-dones. They are more like reimagining classics such as the M1Hommage (see the lead image), 3.0 CSL Hommage and the 2002 Hommage.

However, the company was not tempted to comply with public requests. Van Hooydonk stated that the team “never went all out along that path.”

Van Hooydonk is a strong believer in retro design being used in production vehicles. Retro design can be used to help brands get back on track. This is similar to the return by Renault 5. While this could work for the French marque BMW is confident in its current course.
