Brabham Expands Racing Efforts with New BT63 GT2 Concept Race Car

Later in the year, it will make its racing debut.

Brabham Automotive has expanded its racing efforts with a new car, the BT63 GT2 Concept. The BT62 is the basis of the BT63 GT2 Concept. However, the company modified it to be competitive in the 2022 European GT2 Championship. It has many modifications that make it compliant with racing series regulations. These include a de-tuned motor and unique aero bits. The company has achieved success at the British and GT Cup Championship.

It’s still a dry-sump, 5.4-liter V8 engine. However, power is down. Regular BT62 produces 700 horsepower (622 kilowatts) as well as 492 pound-feet (677 Newton meters) of torque. The BT3 GT2 Concept produces 600 hp (447 kW) and a sequential gearbox directs power to the rear wheels. Brabham has not yet revealed all details about the new racer, as we don’t have any information on the car’s suspension or braking system.

The BT63 GT2 is built on the same platform that the BT62 and was engineered and designed by the same team who created the road-going BT62R. The new racer has a different aero, which includes a special wings, diffuser and spoiler. It will weigh between 1,200 to 1,300 kilograms (2.645-2.866 pounds), which is more than the BT62’s dry-weight of 975 kg (2.150 lb). It will be slower than its sibling due to the extra power and weight, but it must still meet series specifications.

Brabham Automotive collaborated closely with SRO Motorsport Group in order to fulfill homologation requirements. It will race at the inaugural Fanatec 2022 GT2 European Championship in October 2021, where it will compete in the invitational class. Circuit Paul Richard will host the racing on October 3rd through 4th, 2021. Brabham’s BT63 GT3 Concept will compete alongside drivers from Lamborghini and Porsche. Brabham will offer the car at 400,000 dollars ($473,650 at current exchange rate) and full factory support.
