Brabus today introduced in Dubai the Rocket 900 Desert Gold Edition, based on the Mercedes-Benz S65 AMG.
Brabus already had a Rocket900, but this new model has a gold suit to make it more attractive in the UAE. We are dealing with an upgraded S65 AMG, which has a twin-turbo V12, 6.3-liter engine. This is in addition to its less flashy sibling. It produces a staggering 900 PS (662kW) and 1,500 Nm (1 1,106 lbft), but Brabus will limit torque electronically to 1,200 Nm (884lb-ft) in order to preserve the reliability of the 7-speed automatic transmission.
The model is still a high-performance rear-wheel-drive sedan despite the extra punch. It can conquer the 0-62mph (0-100 km/h), sprint in a mere 3.7 seconds, and then the 0-124mph (0-20 km/h), in 9.1 seconds. Finally, it can reach a top speed exceeding 217 mph (350 km/h).
Mounting larger turbochargers, an intake module with a higher performance and a custom sports exhaust system featuring butterfly valves made it possible to increase power and performance. The driver can also control the car’s sound by pressing a button on the steering wheel.
It has a unique “Desert Gold”, paint and a carbon-fiber look for custom add-on parts. The tuner’s 21 inch Monoblock F Platinum Edition wheels are used to mount it. They have gold pin striping and come with 255/35 ZR21 front tires and 295/30 ZR21 rear tires.
Brabus used many gold accents throughout their cabin. However, they managed to keep it simple unlike other tuners who tend to overexaggerate and create shabby interiors. To reflect the car’s improved performance, the digital speedometer was updated to show 400 km/h. The “900” embroidery in the headrest serves as a reminder of its immense output.
