C8 Corvette Z06 Quarter Mile Time Pegged At 10.6 Seconds

The performance record for mid-engine Corvette surpasses that of its C7 predecessor.

The 2023 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 has been officially revealed, but the most sexiest specs and performance figures have yet to be released. The internet is a great place to find out if there’s a leaked version of America’s legendary sports car.

Enter Corvette Forum. reliable for Corvette information, member Z0Sick6 (excellent handling, sir). Although the exact origin and location of the Z06 enthusiast are not known, took a photo from a Chevy product display board. This gives some quick facts about the Z06 including a quarter-mile time in 10.6 seconds.

10.6 seconds seems impressive. The previous C7 Z06 ran quarter-miles in 10.9 seconds. (If Driver believes us, then the current Porsche 911 Turbo S can run that distance in just 10.1 seconds.

Here are some caveats. First, Chevy provides a footnote to the 10.6 number on the photo, which is as yet unintelligible. It’s possible that this footnote will refer to the time when certain optional equipment, tires or under variable conditions were used (General Motors is loaded with lawyers). A big problem is that we have not received any indications from Chevrolet that the image is genuine and that the number is official, despite the title.

We reached out to the automaker to confirm and get comment. As soon as we have more information, this post will be updated.

While it is always fun to compare headline statistics with performance cars, a drag-racing metric is not the best way to measure a Corvette Z06. This supercar, which is a mid-engine, high-revving and 670-horsepower supercar, will likely be a beast on tracks with corners.
