Cadillac CT4-V Blackwing Laps IR Faster than BMW M5 Competition

It makes you wonder about the CT5V Blackwing’s capabilities.

The Cadillac CT4_V debut in 2019 is a memory that many people have, but not for the right reasons. Cadillac changed the name of its V series cars to mid-level sportsy models after years of producing hot V models. It was a stunningly underwhelming CT4-V, which wasn’t even a shadow the ATS-V that it replaced. In early 2021 , Cadillac introduced the CT4_V Blackwing, and Cadillac is now making memorable moves for the right.

A recent in-car video taken by Cadillac at Virginia International Raceway is the latest evidence supporting the Blackwing’s superiority. It can be viewed above. The Grand Course layout of 4.1 miles is very technical, with many crests and difficult high-speed corners. Cadillac is proud to have the CT4-V Blackwing, which turns a great lap on the entire course. The carbon fiber 1 package was added to the car, and the sedan in bone stock set a lap record of 2:52.5 seconds.

Without a comparison, the time doesn’t really mean anything. We turn to Driver. The noted magazine has been testing hundreds of cars over the long course since 2006. We find that the CT4-V Blackwing is in the top half of the list. It is faster than a number of supercars, including the 997 Porsche 911 GT3 RS and fourth-gen Dodge Viper SRT10, as well as the Audi R8 V10. It is even faster than Cadillac’s top-of-the-line V-machine, the 640-horsepower CTSV. This is a modern, hardcore sedan that the Caddy beats by more than a second.

This feat becomes even more remarkable when you consider power figures. The CT4-V Blackwing’s twin-turbocharged, 3.6-liter V6 produces 472 horsepower (352 kW) compared to the 617 horsepower (6460 kilowatts), which is the Bimmer. Cadillac offers the Blackwing with a manual transmission. However, this lap was achieved by a car that had the optional 10-speed auto.

We’re excited to see the 668-hp (498 kW) CT4-V Blackwing handle VIR if it performs so well on a track.
