Cadillac Lyriq V-Series Under Evaluation, Says Executive

A hotter EV might also be added to the mix.

The 2023 Cadillac Lyriq will be available in the first quarter of next year. It comes with a standard rear wheel-drive setup and 340 horsepower (254 Kilowatts). The company will soon release a “Performance” model that features a dual-motor setup, more horsepower, and more torque. If we are lucky, a third Lyriq V-Series might join the lineup.

Rory Harvey, Global Vice President, stated that a Lyriq V-Series Model is something the company is currently “evaluating”. Although it’s not hard evidence, Cadillac acknowledges the possibility.

Harvey stated, “If you look at Cadillac in its past, having sporty versions has been part our heritage… and this is something we are looking at and evaluating moving ahead.”

We reported that the base Lyriq, which was introduced after the EV’s debut in April 2022, will be available in the US with a single electric motor delivering 340 hp (325 pound-feet) and 340 lb-ft (483 newton meters). It has an estimated range of 300 miles (or more) and a maximum range of 483 km. While the dual-motor Performance model will have more power and range, it is not clear what a V-Series model might bring.

The CT4-V, and CT5-V have 325 and 335 horsepower in their base forms. The Blackwing models are more powerful, with 472 horsepower for the CT4-V, and 668 horsepower for the CT5-V. We’ll need to wait until Cadillac announces the first hot crossover of the brand, which is likely to be next year.
