You get up to 600 horsepower, and it has more than 200 miles of range.
GMC Hummer and a Chevrolet EV pickup are just a few of the important electric trucks that have been announced. Los Angeles-based Canoo unveiled another zero-emissions ute.
The new pickup looks futuristic and resembles a cab-forward design. It also echoes the company’s previously revealed minivans and delivery vehicles. It is built on the same platform as the company’s minivan and delivery vehicle, and boasts a host of other features. The bed is configurable and has a pull-out extension that increases its length from 6-8 feet (1.8-2.24 meters). Canoo mounted a thin vertical strip to the doors’ edges so that the taillights can no longer be seen from the rear after opening the tailgate doors.
The modularity of the bed goes beyond its length. There’s a cargo system that secures various items. Flip-down tables on the sides serve as workbenches. A side step makes it easy to load and unload cargo items. Below the built-in step, there is a large cargo area that can hold a small cooler or first aid kit as well as a laptop and other items.
The Canoo electric pickup moves at the front. It has a handy fold-down worktable that can be folded down and extended to store various tools. A roof rack and a tent-mounted tent can be added to the camper shell for extra cargo space. There are several power outlets that can be used to charge your devices. The third brake light doubles up as an overhead light and complements the LEDs around the bed.
Canoo states that the electric truck is available in single- or dual-motor configurations. This one comes with all-wheel drive, 600 horsepower and 550 pound feet (746 Newton-meters), of instant torque. The battery can provide more than 200 miles (322 km) of range but will not be able to carry the maximum payload of 1,800 pounds (816 kg).
The Canoo truck is 18 inches long and weighs 265/60/R18. It has the following dimensions. The wheelbase measures 112.2 inches (2,850mm), while the bed measures 64in / 1627mm x 72in / 1817mm or 64in / 1627mm x102 in/2,600mm when extended. The bed’s depth is 21 inches (522mm).
Brake-bywire and steer-bywire are promised. There’s also a tow hitch receiver, and the ability to charge external devices for up to 24 hours without losing any range. There is no logo visible, in case you didn’t notice. Canoo believes that the distinctive headlights or taillights can double as brand identifiers.
Although it sounds promising, the first customer deliveries will not take place until 2023. Pre-orders will be available starting in the second quarter at an undetermined price. Canoo might not ring a bell if Hyundai’s announcement a little more than a year ago regarding plans to use its skateboard in future EVs made of electric vehicles, some of which will bear the Kia badge.
