It is a campervan that thinks it is a motorhome.
We love camper conversions with small features. There have been many keepers in our history, including clever DIY van designs and a Nissan Versa equipped with a bed. Although there are many companies that provide small camper vans with excellent amenities, this Fiat-based campervan is actually a mini-motorhome with all of the amenities of an RV.
It is called the Chausson X550, and even the manufacturer has difficulty classifying it. It’s made from a Fiat Ducato and measures just over 19 feet (5.9m) in length and 6.9ft (2.1m) wide. These stats are typical for a small van conversion. However, the Chausson X550 can sleep four in a foldable bed or a drop down bed. In the large dining room, you can entertain five people. You can prepare delicious meals in the fully equipped kitchen, which includes a 3-burner stove, oven and sink.
You can easily access a pair of 22-gallon tanks for fresh and waste water. They are also useful for your kitchen sink. The Chausson X550 has a full bathroom that includes a toilet and a huge stand-up shower. The van’s entire width is covered by it, with a 180-degree hinged door. This door can be closed to completely block the bathroom or create a changing room. The door pivots around so that the rear closet can be accessed from the bathroom. This allows you to grab towels and clothes without having to leave the bathroom.
The only variable is power. A boiler heats the camper. It depends on how big the dealer’s battery is. Shore power is also available at campgrounds with it. This rig is large enough to be considered impressive, but it doesn’t necessarily have solar power.
The MotorhomeCampervan review video at the top of this article shows that the price for this mini-motorhome is around PS58,000. This would translate to roughly $81,000 if it were available in the US. The Chausson X550 is our favorite camper conversion, considering it has six-figures more amenities than a larger motorhome.
