Check Out The M4 CSL Breaks the Nurburgring Lap Record for Production BMWs

It completely destroyed the lap time of the M4 GTS.

BMW unveiled the M4 GTS in 2015 shortly after revealing the coupe. It boasted that the M4 GTS with its water injection system had lapped Nurburgring in 7 mins and 27.88 seconds. Its spiritual successor, the M4 CSL, has been able to complete a Nordschleife lap in seven minutes and 20.20 seconds. This is more than seven seconds faster than its predecessor. The M4 CSL now ranks as the fastest street-legal BMW on Green Hell.

Jorg Weidinger, a development engineer, was behind the wheel of Bavaria’s third ever Coupe Sport Lightweight model. Jorg Weidinger, who has been with BMW for more than 20 years and M GmbH since 2013, was responsible for the M4 GTS lap time. The car’s camouflage is due to the fact that it was driven during the testing of the M4 CSL at the ‘Ring.

The prototype can be seen hitting the magic 300 km/h (186mph) on the long straight. This is exactly where the video stops at 7:05. Jorg Weidinger drove the CSL to its limit. The car reached 191 mph (307km/h), after going from 0-60 mph (100 km/h), to 0-128 mph (200 km/h), in just 3.7 seconds. In 10.7 seconds.

This impressive result was possible due to a 40 horsepower increase in the inline-six engine and a reduction of 240 pounds (108.8 kg) over the Competition model. Aerodynamic improvements were also made to the automatic-only CSL, which allows it to handle corners at higher speeds than other M4 models. Ceramic brakes are standard equipment for superior stopping power. The adaptive suspension electronically controlled dampers can be said to have the same effect.

The upcoming XM will not only be a M car, but it will also be the first M car since the original M1 mid-engined M1. It is unlikely that its lap times will match the M4 CSL’s. It is impossible to make a heavy SUV as agile as a smaller vehicle with only two seats. BMW is rumored to be working on a 3.0 CSL revival, based on the M4 CSL but with 600 horsepower, and even a manual transmission.
