Chevrolet – $30K Equinox, Blazer, and Entry-Level Electric Vehicles

GM’s push to electrify is about to enter a new phase.

General Motors has exciting news today. The company’s new semi-autonomous driving system, and the Silverado electric car debut are just two of the exciting news about the future of the automaker. The future of electric vehicles is bright. We can expect an Equinox and Blazer to be among them.

This word is directly from Mark Reuss, GM President. During GM’s investor-day presentation, he mentioned an electrified Chevrolet Equinox as the second-best-selling vehicle after the Silverado. The Equinox EV will be priced at $30,000, which would put it at the lower end of Equinox’s range. Considering the fact that the Equinox EV is the only electric option available to GM buyers, any Equinox version with electric power was not disclosed.

A dedicated electric Chevrolet Blazer was also selected. Although it’s not as popular as Equinox, 94,599 units were sold last year. Although the Blazer EV price was not mentioned, Reuss mentioned a new entry-level Chevrolet EV. As the Bolt is priced at $31,000, it’s likely that this means something in the $20,000 to $20,000 range.

This is all part of GM’s plan to double its revenue by 2030. GM will continue to push into electric production to achieve that goal. The automaker plans to make EV production possible at more than half its North American and Chinese manufacturing plants by 2030. This evolution will be driven by the modular Ultium electric vehicle platform.

Mary Barra, GM CEO, stated that GM’s vision of a world without crashes, emissions, or congestion has put us ahead of many of our competitors in electrification and software-enabled service and autonomy. “GM’s early investments in these growth trends transformed it from an automaker to a platform innovator, with customers at its center. GM will make use of its software and hardware platforms to invent and enhance the daily experience for customers, leading everyone on the path to an all-electric future.
