Chevy Corvette C8 Drag Races Cadillac CT-V, America Wins

Even on a dirt track, the Corvette is quick.

If you can’t get your car to the road, more power is not worth it. Watch as a Cadillac CTSV races a Chevrolet Corvette C8 just three days after delivery.

You might think that the CTS-V will dominate these challenges based on its raw specs. Its 6.2-liter supercharged V8 produces 640 horsepower (477 Kilowatts) as well as 630 pound-feet (855 Newton-meters). The gearbox is eight-speed. The Corvette’s naturally aspirated 6.2-liter V8 produces 495 horsepower (369 kW) 470 lbft (637Nm) and is rated at 495 hp (369.kW). The Corvette also has an eight speed automatic transmission.

These guys race on a very dirty closed track, adding another challenge. The track is covered in fine grit from nearby construction. It is even harder to get a grip.

The Caddy’s gearbox fails to hold second gear so the Corvette wins the first race. The CTS-V cannot help but spin the tires, so the ‘Vette wins the second race from a standing position.

The Caddilac finally makes use of its extra power during a second race using a roll and defeats the Corvette. The performance is repeated again. The CTS-V loses to the Vette in a rematch starting from a standing position.

It is impressive to see the C8 putting down power against such a powerful vehicle. This is due at least partially to the model’s new mid-engined layout, which improves weight distribution.
